After a brief social media hiatus, Lil Baby posted a teaser of a collab with Rockstar Energy last week. Yesterday, during the Super Bowl, we saw the collab come to life in an empowering commercial.
The Atlanta rapper made it clear that he was not handed the spotlight; but rather he had to work for it. The commercial shows others who also had to grind, such as a designer, a mechanic, an artist, a doctor and more.
In a behind the scenes video of the commercial, the "We Paid" rapper says that his liking for the energy drink was only part of his excitement to link up with Rockstar Energy.
"Their whole campaign is revolved around hustling. I feel like I'm one of the biggest hustlers around," said Lil Baby.
His statement is nothing short of accurate, especially for this past year. In 2020, Lil Baby won "Artist of the Year" of all genres by Apple Music. His second studio album, My Turn, hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 200 and is certified double platinum.
He has also been nominated for 2 Grammys this year for his latest single, The Bigger Picture. If it wasn't clear before, I think it's definitely safe to say that Lil Baby is hustling more than ever now, being the star of a commercial on television's biggest night in football.
Other music acts did their thing at the Super Bowl this year as well. Jazmine Sullivan and H.E.R. kicked it off throwing some Black girl magic on the patriotic anthems and The Weeknd held it down for the halftime show.
